For this week’s post, I spent from Monday to Wednesday morning reaching out to a local Facebook group for their top recommendations, one day at a time. On Monday, I asked for the best breakfast spots, on Tuesday for must visit bakeries, and on Wednesday for local coffee spots. Each day, I personally visited the most suggested places; many of which I had been to before as a local. I revisited these favorites to provide an updated take on the most popular recommendations.
Day 1 – Monday: Top Breakfast Spot – Scrambles Cafe
For Day 1, I asked the local Facebook group for their top breakfast recommendations. The local favorite was Scrambles Cafe, which was a win for me since it’s already one of my personal favorites. However, I decided to approach the visit with fresh eyes, as if it were my first time there, and made sure to review it in an unbiased way.
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed (per usual lol). We were nicely greeted and promptly seated. Our drink orders were taken and arrived at our table almost instantly. When it came to choosing from the menu, as cliche as it sounds everything sounded so appealing. I finally decided for the breakfast sampler, which included eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and French toast.
The potatoes were exceptional, definitely the favorite of the plate. Everything else was just as delicious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, checking in without being intrusive. The cafe itself had a charming atmosphere, covered with lovely photos of Ocala, adding a personal touch that enhanced the local vibe.
Overall, I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great charming breakfast spot.
Day 2- Tuesday: Top Bakery Spot- Soleil Bakery
For Day 2, I asked for recommendations for the best local bakeries, and Soleil Bakery came out on top. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted and asked if I was looking for anything specific. I decided to choose something from their showcase to keep it simple.
I spent a good five minutes admiring their selection from cookies, brownies, vegan desserts, pies, muffins, cakes; so many tempting options for a sweet tooth like me! Ultimately, I went with a chocolate cake pop. Although I didn’t stay to enjoy it there, Soleil Bakery offers a variety of seating areas that adds to its inviting and aesthetic atmosphere.
The cake pop was fantastic, perfectly sweet and rich. Overall, I highly recommend Soleil Bakery to both locals and visitors for a delicious treat.
Day 3- Wednesday: Top coffee spot- Gathering Cafe
For Day 3, I asked for recommendations on the best local coffee spots, and The Gathering Cafe was the top suggestion. Known for its uplifting atmosphere, Christian values, and strong community involvement, this cafe lives up to its amazing reputation.
At The Gathering Cafe, it’s easy to see why it’s so highly recommended. I tried their vanilla chai latte, which was exceptional and came with a sweet, uplifting note written on the cup. I also ordered their cinnamon bun, which was perfectly balanced and delicious. Additionally, I had their grilled cheese; a simple choice, but it was prepared wonderfully.
Overall, The Gathering Cafe offers a warm, welcoming experience with excellent food and beverages. I would recommend this cafe as well.
